The Long Island Cellar is a publication about the wine made on our island and the people who make it. We cover the North Fork and the wider region the way regulars talk about it at the bar, with curiosity, a little opinion, and no pretense. Crisp coastal whites, the Cabernet Franc that has quietly become our signature red, the sparkling that holds its own against far older regions. If it is grown here, it belongs here.
We started this because Long Island wine deserves a steady record, not just a mention on a tasting room chalkboard. Every issue collects field guides, varietal deep dives, pairing frameworks you can actually use, and dispatches from the vineyards down Route 25.
Who we are
The Long Island Cellar is an editorial project from the team behind Enology Wine Bar & Bistro, a wine-first destination at 412 N Country Rd in Saint James, on the North Shore. We pour many of the Long Island bottles we write about, which is exactly why we are able to write about them with any authority. When a piece points you toward a glass at Enology, we say so plainly. That is the deal, and we think it makes the writing better, not worse.
What you can do here
Read the guides. Find a bottle worth chasing. Then, if the writing does its job, come taste it. Our home base keeps a rotating Long Island selection, and the people behind this publication are usually the ones pouring it.
